PC Sint-Hiëronymus

PC Sint-Hiëronymus chose Roltex to help them with matt black trays for the renovation of their restaurant.

The design of a room has a strong impact on the experience and emotions of people. For Sint-Hiëronymus, a mental health facility in Sint-Niklaas, it is important that their new restaurant feels calm and homely. Roltex is happy to contribute to the atmosphere with stylish and contemporary trays.

A multifunctional space with a homely ambiance

Sint-Hiëronymus had been thinking about renovating their restaurant for quite some time before they started. And when they finally did, they had a clear idea of what they wanted. Kitchen manager Dieter Vandewalle explains the vision: “We wanted to create a multifunctional space that people could use in many different ways.”

The look and feel of the restaurant was also very important. “Clients and colleagues come here to enjoy a moment of peace. We have created a space with a homely ambiance and settled on a black and white concept, with brown and green seats.”

Stylish matt black trays

The restaurant chose matt black trays that complemented the new look and feel perfectly. Dieter: “Whenever I enter a restaurant and I see these typical grey hospital trays, I think to myself: I want to do it better.”

The Roltex serving trays were also chosen for their functionality: “We serve over 200 meals a day, so we wanted to be able to seat as many people as possible in our relatively small space. That’s why we needed to find trays that were large enough to be handy, but small enough to fit our tables. We ended up choosing our tables with the trays in hand.”

The tableware also had to fit the trays. They landed on white porcelain to match the stylish black trays.

Why Sint-Hiëronymus chose Roltex

The collaboration with Roltex went very smooth, says Dieter. “When we visited the showroom of the Roltex distributor, they had clearly done their homework and presented us a couple of ideas and combinations that fit with our concept.”

Another important aspect was the trays’ availability. “We want to still be able to buy the same trays and tableware in five years time.”

Unveiling the new restaurant

When Sint-Hiëronymus finally unveiled the new restaurant and trays, reactions were unanimously positive. Dieter is visibly happy with the result: “Our restaurant has really become a multipurpose space: our team doesn’t just have their coffee breaks here, it is also used to have conversations with clients or colleagues in a relaxed atmosphere.”

Annelies Smet, who works for the center’s social services, agrees: “The new restaurant is such an improvement. The trays and tableware fit very well with the rest of the space. And they are functional as well: they are compact and handy, while still providing enough space.”
